Our Clients Love Us

John
Being a male, I felt a bit unsure about trying a workout that I perceived to be just for women. That viewpoint is probably the biggest misconception about Pilates besides the fact that people have heard Pilates is just too hard. I felt at ease from the moment I walked into the door. Having lower back pain for the past 20 years, I decided to try Pilates at the suggestion of my doctor. In just a few sessions, my back discomfort is noticeably gone and my flexibility is starting to improve. I recently started running again and can definitely see how Pilates will help with my core strength and flexibility—components of a successful running regimen. I definitely recommend any of the instructors at NW Core Balance.

NW Core Balance is a great Pilates studio. The small class size (max 5 people) means lots of individualized attention so you can be sure you’re in proper form and not at risk of hurting yourself. I’ve taken sessions from Shelley, Jen, and Sara and all are fantastic teachers. Each one teaches a little different that the other one but they all create a very supportive environment for practicing Pilates. Whether you’re brand new to Pilates or very experienced, they will modify exercises for any physical limitations you might have and just as encouraging on your low energy days as they are on your best days. There’s no reason to be intimidated by Pilates at NW Core Balance—it continues to be a wonderful experience!

Three and half years ago, I was not able to lift my right arm above my shoulders and getting out of bed was scary. When I would wake up in the morning, my legs, knees, and hips were sore and stiff. Since working out with Shelley at NW Core Balance, my right arm has about 95% mobility and taking those first steps out of bed in the morning isn’t as frightening! Pilates has given me the core strength I needed for balance and allowed me to stretch muscles I never used before. The combination of using all my muscles has led to a much more active and productive lifestyle. Shelley’s knowledge is remarkable, which is shared continually, and her compassion for your health is immeasurable. I would highly recommend NW Core Balance to anyone.
Elizabeth
NW Core Balance has invested in top-of-the line equipment that provides their students with the ultimate Pilates experience. Every session is different because every instructor is constantly mixing the workout up by using the Reformer, Tower, Chair and incorporating different props such as the barrel, circle, ball and foam rollers to increase the intensity of the workouts. I’m definitely seeing definition in my core, legs, and arms as a result of the resistance training you get from practicing Pilates. Balance is my biggest challenge due to back surgeries and while I’ll never be the most graceful person, my balance is improving as I gain strength, control, and coordination with the movements I’ve learned.

Our Philosophy

NW Core Balance is based on the belief that anyone can do Pilates, regardless of age, ability, injuries, or financial status. Taking these factors into consideration, we offer several formats to practice Pilates ranging from Private Sessions to our most popular group class format. We work with the individual creating a customized program designed to help meet the individual’s needs.
