Shelley Ballestrazze
Owner/Instructor
A lifelong fitness enthusiast growing up in Boulder, Shelley was very active in sports, but struggled constantly with injuries and chronic lower back pain. She tried Pilates in early 2001 as a means to cure her repeated running injuries and to alleviate muscle tightness and discovered she was able to live pain-free and became an advocate for the Pilates Method. The flexibility of Pilates, combined with the strength of weight training, keeps her strong, flexible, and injury-free. Prior to becoming a Pilates instructor and Personal Trainer, she finished up her 20-year corporate career as a computer technician and software trainer.
PILATES – Shelley is a 3rd generation Classical Instructor, going through a very rigorous and comprehensive 650-hour initial training program. She earned her Pilates certification in 2003 through Body Kinetics, under the tutelage of Master Instructor and 2nd generation Classical Instructor, Carol Appel.
FITNESS – Shelley started lifting weights in high school and loves how weight training, combined with Pilates, changes a woman’s body. She is an ACE Certified Personal Trainer, focusing on empowering women of all ages to feel comfortable lifting weights whether at home, or in a gym, and instilling the confidence to do so.
Shelley opened Northwest Core Balance in Tualatin (Portland), Oregon in 2011.
